KUALA LUMPUR: Stocks are mostly lower on Bursa Malaysia at midday as investors braced for a potential 50 basis points rate hike by the U.S. Federal Reserve this week.
The FBM KLCI was down 2.91 points, or 0.2% to 1,474.28 by the midday break after dropping to 1,468.85 earlier in the session.
Losers edged gainers by 455 to 313, while 360 counters traded unchanged. Volume was1.36 billion shares valued at RM607.65mil.
Dealers said investors took some profit as concerns over interest rates re-emerged.
The Federal Reserve is widely expected to raise rates by 50 basis points on Wednesday at its last meeting of 2022.

On Bursa Malaysia, Vitrox fell 22 sen to RM7.72, PETRONAS Dagangan eased 22 sen to RM21.98, PETRONAS Gas loss 16 sen to RM16.68 and Digi declined 13 sen to RM3.78.
Malaysian Pacific Industries jumped 88 sen to RM29.88, Nestle rose 40 sen to RM137.20, Batu Kawan gained 28 sen to RM21.10 and Hong Leong Financial Group added 24 sen to RM18.66.
